Montenegro - The Republic of Montenegro is a country located in southeastern Europe. It has a coast on the Adriatic Sea to the South, and borders Croatia to the West, Bosnia and Herzegovina to the North-West, Serbia to the North-East and Albania to the South-East. Its capital is Podgorica. Based on the results of a referendum held on May 21, 2006, Montenegro declared independence on June 3, 2006. Montenegro is the smallest country in Eastern Europe, in terms of population. If one excludes microstates, it is the fourth least-populous country in Europe. It is the smallest Slavic nation in the world.
